Soft Soldering in Plumbing

Historically soft soldering has had a significant role within Plumbing, connecting copper pipes with high quality, leak free joints. Today this method of joining continues to prove popular as the most reliable method of pipe connection by plumbing professionals. During soft soldering connectors and piping should be protected from oxidisation through the use of Solder Flux, generally in a thicker paste format.

Puraflow® Solder Wire has been designed specifically for soldering copper tubing and associated brass fittings within plumbing and heating applications. This thick diameter solder wire should be used alongside a suitable solder flux.

Puraflow® is supplied in leaded and lead-free alloys. The lead-free version has a melting temperature of 227°C and is ideal for potable applications, where meeting domestic drinking water legislation is required.

WRAS Approved Products

The Water Regulations Approval Scheme (WRAS) is an independent UK certification body for plumbing products and materials, helping business and consumers choose compliant products that keep water safe.

Powerflow Flux and Fluxrite are both WRAS approved Solder Fluxes, which means they are certified as being of a suitable quality to be used within water fittings within the UK, in accordance with regulation.
